
ABOUT FSIN JORDAN'S PRINCIPLE


MANDATES
On November 3, 2020, the Health & Social Development Commission approved the January 23-24, 2019 Jordan’s Principle Forum Report and directed the FSIN Health and Social Development Secretariat to lead the development of a regional First Nations long term Jordan’s Principle strategy to seamlessly transition from a Child First Initiative (CFI) to a long-term strategy ensuring full implementation of Jordan’s Principle.
The FSIN Jordan’s Principle department was established during Covid in 2020.
The FSIN Jordan’s Principle provides support by, but not limited to:

Working with leadership on concerns and challenges First Nations children, families and communities are experiencing in health, social and education; and
-
advocating for individuals, families, groups and communities on appeals and denials from Jordan’s Principle and NIHB; and
-
assisting individuals and groups with requests in the areas of health, social and education; and
-
supporting and advocating for individual and First Nations Service Coordinators concerns and challenges; and
-
working with First Nations communities on Jordan’s Principle and CHRT 41 applications/requests to obtain capacity and securing capital funding; and
-
Assist with post-majority requests; and
-
Focusing on the policies and legislation that continue to create gaps the in the health & well-being of children and youth; and
-
Continuously working to address the on-going discriminatory practices our First Nations children and families endure.
FSIN Jordan’s Principle established the following groups to assist in guiding the long-term reform of Jordan’s Principle,
